一、advice- advise

1. advice/əd’vaɪs/ 是名詞，表示給某人的建議。advice 是不可數名詞，不說 advices 或 an advice，而是用詞組a piece of advice 表示一條建議。

  • she promised to follow his advice。她答應聽取他的意見。
  • Could I give you a piece of advice? 我可以給你一條建議嗎？

2. advise/əd’vaɪz/。是動詞，表示建議某人做某事。

  • He advised her to see a doctor.他建議她去看醫生。

二、affect- effect

1.affect [ə’fekt]是動詞,表示影響某人使其發生變化,一般都是消極變化。

  • These problems could affect my work.這些問題會影響我的工作

2.effect [ɪ’fekt]是名詞,表示某物存在或發生是由于其他事的發生。

也可以表示某物對其他事物的影響。

  • They are still feeling the effects of the war.他們仍然能感受到戰争帶來的影響。
  • Her words had a strange effect on me. 他的話對我産生了奇怪的影響。

三、afford

1.can afford 表示有足夠的金錢買某物，can't afford 則含義相反。

  • It's too expensive-we can't afford it.它大貴了，我們買不起。
  • When will we be able to afford a new TV？我們什麼時候能買得起一台新電視？

2.afford 和 can, could 或者 be able to 連用。

  • 我們不說 someone affords something.
  • 不要說 something can be afforded，而是說 people can afford it.
  • We need to build houses that people can afford.我們需要建造人們買得起的房子。
