在漢語中，我們經常用“大約、大概，左右”等詞

來形容描述我們不太确定的數量

那在英語中，我們要如何表達呢？

除了最常見的“about",這些用法你也得知道！

表示大約數目

指的是圍繞特定數目、以及比特定數目或多或少的數目。英語中在數詞前加 about, around, some，approximately，roughly，more or less，in the neighbourhood of 等詞或詞組，或在數詞後加or so，or there about，in the rough等詞組表示，

例如：

(1) about／around five o’clock 大約五點鐘／五點鐘左右

(2) about／around／some／approximately／roughly／more or less／in the neighbourhood of twenty people 大約二十人／二十人左右

表示“少于”的數目

表示比特定數目少或小的數目，英語中在數詞前加fewer than， less than，under，below，within等詞或詞組表示，

例如：

(1) fewer than／less than／under／below／within one thousand yuan 少于一千元／不到一千元／一千元以下

(2) below zero degrees Celsius 攝氏零度以下

表示“差不多”的數目

差不多，接近特定數目或僅差一點。英語中在數詞前加nearly，almost，toward，close on等詞或詞組表示，

例如：

(1) nearly／almost／toward fifty years old 将近五十歲／差一點五十歲

(2) nearly／almost／close on one hundred yuan 将近一百元／差不多一百元

表示“多于”的數目

表示比特定數目多或大的數目，英語中在數詞前加more than ，over，above，upwards of等詞或詞組表示，或用在數詞後加and more，odd，and odd等詞或詞組表示，

例如：

(1) more than／over／above／upwards of a hundred yuan one hundred yuan and more／odd／and odd 一百多元／一百來元

(2) above thirty-two degrees Fahrenheit 華氏32度以上

表示“介于"的數目

表示介于兩個特定數目之間的數目，英語中用from…to；(anywhere) between…and…表示，

例如：

(1)from five to six days; between five and six days 五至六天

(2)from eight hundred to nine hundred kilometres anywhere between eight hundred and nine hundred kilometres (介于) 八百到九百公裡 (之間)

表示“相鄰”的數目

連用兩個相鄰的數字，表示一個不确定數目。英語中用or連接兩個相鄰數字來表示。表示“兩個或兩個以上”等，在數詞後加or more表示，

例如：

(1) two or three 兩三個

(2) sixty or seventy 六七十

(3) three thousand or four thousand 三四千

(4) by twos and threes 三三兩兩

(5) two or more 兩個或兩個以上
