指示代詞（demonstrative pronoun）是表示指示概念的代詞，即用來指示或标識人或事物的代詞。指示代詞與定冠詞和人稱代詞一樣，都具有指定的含義，用來起指示作用，或用來代替前面已提到過的名詞。

指示代詞是表示“這個”“那個”“這些”“那些”等指示人或事物的代詞。

this(這個)的複數形式是these(這些);that(那個)的複數形式是those(那些)。

（1）指示‬代詞在‬句子‬中可以‬作‬主‬語‬、賓語‬和‬定語‬。

例: This is my sister.這是我妹妹。(作主語)

例: I dont like that . 我不喜歡那個。(作賓語)

例: That bag is nice. 那個書包很漂亮。(作定語)

（2）指示‬代詞在‬意義‬上有‬遠近‬的差别‬，this/these指‬空間‬上‬比較‬近‬的人或‬事物；that/those指‬空間‬上比較‬遠‬的‬人‬或事物。

例: This is a hen. Those are chicks.

（這是一隻母雞，那些是小雞。）

（3）this指‬即将‬要‬發生‬或‬将‬要‬提‬到‬的事情；that指‬剛‬提‬到‬過的事情或‬已經‬完成‬的事情。

例: I'm going to give up my job and this worries my mother.

（我打算放棄工作,這讓母親很擔心。）

例:I didn't finish my homework. That made Miss Green angry.

（我沒有完成作業。那使格林老師很生氣。）
