總是覺得自己學了那麼久的英語，

在日常生活中卻總是用不上。

就比如說，

我們常挂在嘴邊的"你下班了嗎"英語怎麼說?

千萬别說成：

Are you done work?

在某些英語地區這句話語法上需要加介詞with

done with work

意思上多數情況下這句話等于

did you finish your work?

“你的工作做完了嗎?”

“你完成你的工作了嗎?”

這裡就存在你做完工作但是其實還并沒有到下班時間，所以還沒下班的情況。或者是你還沒做完你的工作，但是到了下班時間，明天繼續幹也有可能。

其實在英語的語境中，當你結束你的工作職責或狀态的時候，會用到get off這個詞。正如上班用go to，下班就用get off。

在結束工作之後想約小夥伴一起玩耍，就可以問：

“你幾點下班?”。

“What time do you get off work?”

或者更簡單一點

“What time are you off work?”

“下班”就是“get off work”

類似的還可以用到get out of work ，get out of work這個用法更偏向于你本人離開你的工作地點這樣一個意思

“What time do you get off work” literally refers to the time that one’s work day ends. In-other-words, a nurse may get off from her shift at 7 pm. Therefore, “she gets off work at 7.” However, the respective nurse may indeed get off at 7, but she may may not physically be able to “get out of work” until the next person arrives to cover the next shift. Consequently, the nurse may “get off work” at 7, but may not “get out of work” until a little bit after 7.

“What time do you get off work”字面上就是在問一天工作結束的時間。換句話說，護士可能在晚上7點下班。因此，她7點get off work。然而，确實有的護士會在7點下班，但實際上她可能無法在7點get out of work(離開她的工作崗位)，除非接她班的人來了。因此，護士可能在7點下班，但可能要到7點後才能真的“下班”。

例：

They should get off work at 5.30 pm rather than 10 pm, 12 pm or 3 am.

他們應該在下午5點半下班，而不是晚上10點、12點或淩晨3點下班。

During peak hours when people go to work and get off work, the situation inside and outside the Station is congested.

在上下班高峰期，車站内外就變得十分擁擠。
