代詞是用來代替名詞的一種詞類，英語代詞種類繁多，用法比較複雜，是中考英語的重點與難點之一。英語代詞按其意義、特征分為以下九類：

在英語代詞中，人稱代詞有格的變化，格是一個語法範疇，英語代詞的格可分為主格，賓格與所有格。代詞的主格在句子中做主語，賓格在句子中作賓語，所有格表示代詞的所屬關系。英語格變代詞的變化如下表格：

英語代詞跟名詞一樣也有數的變化，代詞也有可數與不可數，單數與複數之分，如much, a little, little分别指代的是不可數。指示代詞，this與that 的複數分别為these與those，反身代詞myself ,himeself,herself, yourself的複數為，ourselves ,themselves, yourselves。除此之外，有些不定代詞還有指代兩者與指代三者或三者以上之分，比如：

１、 —Which of the two magazines will you take?

—I’ll take ______ though I find ______ of them are very useful to me.

２、 —Susan, go and join your sister in cleaning the yard.

—Why ______? John is sitting there doing nothing at all.
