1. according as 根據，随……而定。複合連詞，引導從句。如：
Everyone contributes according as he is able. 每個人根據自己的能力作出貢獻。
You will be praised or blamed according as your work is good or bad. 根據你工作的好壞，你會得到表揚或批評。
According as you are studying now, you won’t make much progress. 根據你現在學習情況來看，你不會有多大的進步。
The thermometer rises or falls according as the air is hot or cold.
溫度計(或寒暑表)根據空氣的冷熱而升降。
You will be praised or blamed according as your work is good or bad.
你将被依據你工作的好壞而受到獎懲。（也可譯為：按照工作好壞實行獎懲。）
2. according to根據，按照。複合介詞，後接名詞、代詞、動名詞等，如：
Everything went off according to plan. 一切都按照計劃實現了。
According to my watch it is five o’clock. 照我的表，現在是五點鐘。
Each man will be paid according to his ability. 每個人将根據他的能力獲得報酬。
注：according to 後一般不接 view和 opinion這類詞，也不接表示第一人稱的代詞。如：
依我看，這部電影很不錯。
正：In my opinion, the film is wonderful.
誤：According to my opinion, the film is wonderful.
誤：According to me, the film is wonderful.
