　　如果你在中國的北方長大，拔根兒一定是你童年的美好記憶，或許是你最鐘愛的遊戲之一。根兒，即葉子的柄，楊樹葉通常是最好的選擇。不需要昂貴的玩具，那滿地的落葉就是大自然的禮物。

　　小雅多麼希望這樣的傳統遊戲項目能一代代傳承下去。同時，民族的也是世界的，有落葉的地方，就可以開展這樣的遊戲。小雅采訪了團隊中的英美國家的外教，他們确實沒玩過這個遊戲，但遊戲中涉及的動作卻是很好的英語學習内容。怎麼樣，試試用英文教寶寶玩拔根兒吧！

　　Leaf Stem Fight

　　拔根

　　Child: Mommy, look outside!

　　寶寶：媽媽，看外面！

　　There are so many leaves on the ground.

　　地上有好多落葉呀。

　　Mom: Yeah, lets put on our jackets and go out to play.

　　媽媽：嗯，咱們穿上外套，去外面玩吧。

　　When I was young, we used to play a fun game called leaf stem fight a lot in the fall.

　　我小的時候，我們在秋天經常玩一個好玩的遊戲叫“拔根”。

　　拔根這個遊戲沒有官方翻譯，leaf stem fight是小雅團隊翻譯的。葉子的根部，也就是葉柄，口語中叫stem，植物學上叫petiole。

　　It was a game played with fallen leaves by children in the north,

　　它是北方小朋友用落葉玩的遊戲，

　　but I was told children in the south play a similar game with dog-tail grass or grass roots.

　　不過我聽說南方小朋友會用狗尾巴草或者草根玩類似的遊戲。

　　Ill show you how to play.

　　我一會兒教你怎麼玩。

　　☀ Outside 在外面Mom: This game is played with poplar leaves because their stems are the strongest.

　　媽媽：這個遊戲是用楊樹葉玩的，因為它們的根最結實。

　　Chinese parasol leaves are also big but their stems are not as tough.

　　梧桐葉也很大，但是它們的根不夠韌。

　　Look, here are the poplar leaves I was talking about.

　　看，這就是我說的楊樹葉。

　　Lets each pick up one, pull off the leaf, and keep the stem.

　　咱們每人撿一個，把葉子揪掉，留着根兒。

　　Child: Is this one okay?

　　寶寶：這根可以嗎？

　　Mom: Its not a good choice - too brittle.

　　媽媽：這根不是個好選擇，太脆了。

　　Choose the old brown ones that are not yet dry.

　　選棕色的老根兒，幹的也不行。

　　Child: How about this one?

　　寶寶：這根怎麼樣？

　　Mom: Yeah, you can try with it.

　　媽媽：嗯，可以試試。

　　Hold the two ends of the stem and cross yours with mine, and then pull as hard as you can towards yourself.

　　握着根兒的兩端，把你的和我的交叉，然後往你自己那邊使勁兒拔。

　　Lets see who has the stronger stem.

　　看誰的根更結實。

　　Be careful and stand still.

　　小心點，站穩了。

　　You dont want to fall.

　　可别摔倒哦。

　　Are you ready?

　　準備好了嗎？

　　Child: Yes, I am.

　　寶寶：準備好了。

　　Mom: One, two, three, pull!

　　媽媽：一、二、三，拔！

　　Child: Mom, your stem broke.

　　寶寶：媽媽，你的根斷了。

　　Mom: You win!

　　媽媽：你赢了！

　　Give yourself a round of applause.

　　給你自己鼓鼓掌。

　　Child: That was fun!

　　寶寶：真好玩！

　　Lets play some more.

　　咱們再玩會兒吧。

　　Mom: Okay, why dont you go collect as many stems as you can first?

　　媽媽：好的，你先去多收集點根吧。

　　Child: Sure.

　　寶寶：好的。

　　☀ Child collects stems and comes back 寶寶去收集根然後回來了

　　Child: Mom, these are yours.

　　寶寶：媽媽，這些是你的。

　　Come on, lets see who has the stronger stem now.

　　來吧，看這次誰的根兒更厲害。

　　☀ After several rounds 幾回合後

　　Child: Uh-oh, my stem is going to break.

　　寶寶：啊哦，我的根要斷了。

　　Mom: Try to use different parts of your winning stem to fight

　　媽媽：用你的老赢的那個根的不同位置來拔，

　　so that it can withstand more rounds.

　　這樣的話它能多堅持幾輪。

　　☀ Child wins multiple times 寶寶赢了多次

　　Mom: Thats it for now.

　　媽媽：就玩到這兒吧。

　　Your stem can be awarded as the King Stem of the Day.

　　你的這個根兒可以被授予今天的根兒王稱号了。
