小雪是傳統二十四節氣中的第二十個節氣，也是冬天六個節氣中的第二個，一般始于11月22日，即太陽位于黃經240°，12月7号左右結束。

"小雪" can be referred to as (稱作) minor snow in English, which indicates that snow isabout to arrive.

According to the traditional Chinese calendars, there are 24 solar terms in a year. Minor Snow is the 20th solar term. It is also the second one of the six winter solar terms.Minor Snow begins on the day when the sun is exactly at the celestial longitude (黃經) of 240° and ends when it reaches the longitude of 255°. In the Gregorian calendar (公曆，陽曆), it usually begins around November 22nd and ends around December 7th.

Minor snow begins on Nov 22nd and endson Dec 6th this year of 2020.

二十四個節氣的每一個節氣都有三候，小雪也不例外。

小雪之三候 (three pentads 物候)

一候 “虹藏不見”。古人認為天虹出現是因為天地間陰陽之氣交泰之故，而此時陰氣旺盛陽氣隐伏，天地不交，所以“虹藏不見”；

二候 “天騰地降”。天空中的陽氣上升，地中的陰氣下降，陰陽不交，萬物失去生機；

三候 “閉塞而成冬”。天地閉塞而轉入嚴寒的冬天, 萬物的氣息飄移和遊離幾乎停止。

"虹藏不見" ：

"rainbows are concealed from view." It was believed that rainbows were the results of yin and yang energy mixing; winter, being dominated by yin, would not present rainbows.

"天騰地降" ：

"The qi of the sky ascends, the qi of the earth descends."

"閉塞而成冬" ：

"Closure and stasis create winter". The end of mixing between sky and earth, yin and yang, leads to the dormancy of winter.

After minor snow, the hours of daylight time continue to decrease and the temperature continues to drop. 小雪過後，日照時間繼續縮短, 氣溫繼續降低。
