還是tell呢？

SAY

釋義：To express an idea, feeling, or thought – with words or gestures - you SAY it.

say描述的是說話的内容，比如“他說了他一定會來”。如果要表達和誰說了什麼的意思，要說“say to”。

例句：

1. He said I can’t go.

（他說我不能走）

2. Without saying a word, he made his feelings quite clear.

（沒說一個字，他的感受十分清楚）

3. “Don’t cry,” she said.

（“别哭。”她說）

4. Anything he says is not true. If his lips are moving, he’s lying.

他說的任何事都不是真的。

隻要他一動嘴，就是在撒謊

5. I don’t know why she left, as she didn’t really say.

（我不知道為什麼她走了，因為她沒說什麼）

SPEAK

釋義：To talk to someone about something

與say描述說話内容不同，speak描述的是說話的動作，或者是單方面的談話。比如“他沒有說話”，“他向我說話”。Speak還有演講的意思，“說某種語言”也是用speak。

例句：

1. Hello, may I speak to Jim Smith?

（你好，我能和Jim Smith說話嗎）

2. We had a huge fight and stopped speaking to each other for a long time.

（我們大吵了一架然後互相沉默了很久）

3. Excuse me, can you speak Chinese?

（打擾一下，你會說中文嗎）

4. Robert spoke at the teachers' annual convention.

TALK

釋義：As part of a conversation, you TALK to others

雖說與speak的用法差不多，但speak是指單方面說話，而talk則是兩者之間互相的、非正式的交談。

例句：

1. Bill Gates is talking to him.

（Bill Gates在和他說話）

2. English people love to talk about the weather.

（英格蘭人喜歡談論天氣）

3. I’m not in the mood to talk to him.

（我現在不想跟他說話）

4. My throat hurts, so I’m trying not to talk too much today.

（我喉嚨不舒服，所以我盡量不講太多話）

5. I like talking to Helena.

（我喜歡跟Helena對話）

TELL

釋義：When someone communicates information, they TELL you something – a story, their feelings, etc.

簡單地說，tell是告訴的意思，也就是把一些信息傳遞出去，讓某個人接收到這個信息。另外，tell還有“辨識”的意思。

例句：

1. Tell Jack to attend the meeting.

（告訴Jack參加會議）

2. Tell Jack the meeting is canceled.

（告訴Jack會議取消了）

3. Mom, tell me a bedtime story.

（媽媽，給我講一個睡前故事）

4. Mary told a story to her son.

（Mary對她的兒子講了個故事）

Say 是“說了某某話”；

Speak 是說話的動作，或“向某人說話”；
