為什麼說很多人到頭來不過是隻會“學”英語，不會“用英語”？

我們“學”英語的終極目的是“用”英語。 這句話理解起來似乎一點不成問題。

但其實很多人還是沒有真正理解什麼叫“用”英語。

下面具體舉例讓你“明白”這個“道理”。

1) 多數人都是沿着“英譯漢”這條線“學”(得)英語，又“折返回來”，沿着“漢譯英”這條線“使用”英語，以為把用英譯漢學來的英語“用起來”，就是所謂“用”英語了。

比如，先在開始時問：“刷卡”英語怎麼說？得到回答(答案)是tap your card(swipe your card)後，以後就會“用”英語tap the card了，或者，以後想再次表達“刷卡”時，你就照搬“用”中文“學”過(“學”會)的tap your card就是“會用”英語了。

你是不是也是這麼“理解”上面說的“學英語就是為了用”的意思的？是不是也覺得這樣“理解”“沒毛病啊”呢？難道這“用”字還有别的什麼不同“理解”嗎。

“英語之用”不是這樣“理解”的！

如果你覺得上面所“理解”的“用英語”沒毛病，也不知“毛病在哪？”的話，現在我再列出一段英語，你就真的“理解”你是真的“不會用”英語了，也“理解”我所說的“不會用”英語指的是什麼原來你“沒想到是這個意思”的意思了。

2）How to TAP

At Metro rail stations with validators:

At a station validator, tap your card on the TAP target. Wait for the “beep” sound and “GO” message to verify that your card is valid.

我們說的具備“主動使用”英語的能力，指的就是這些不需要事先經過“英譯漢”學來，現在又用“漢譯英”的方式“使用”它們的英語“使用”能力。

現在你明白“用”英語是個“歧義詞”了吧？你所一直“理解沒毛病”的“用”英語和你真正需要訓練并具備的類似上述“用英語”，是完全不同的一回事。你一直“學會用”的英語跟真正的“用英語”根本不沾邊，不“挑明”你還一直蒙在鼓裡。
