怎麼翻譯“倒數第二”？

常見的表達有以下幾種

1、last but one

I came last but one in the swim.

我遊泳比賽得了個倒數第二。

2. next to last

He wasn't last but next to last.

他不算最後，是倒數第二。

3. second to last

（相比最後一個，我是它的第二個）

third to last 倒數第三

（相比最後一個，我是它的第三個）

其他的以此類推就好

He is the second to last.

他是倒數第二。

I'm the third to last person in line.

我排隊伍的倒數第三。

Westminster University came bottom of the table, with the University of East London second to last.

榜單中，威斯敏斯特大學排名墊底，而東倫敦大學倒數第二。

需要注意的是second to none 是“第一；首屈一指”。

英語中各種數字的表達方式大全

01、基數詞的讀法

202讀作：two hundred(and)two

234讀作：two hundred(and)thirty four

1,234讀作：one thousand，two hundred(and)thirty four

但是在讀法上須注意以下幾點：

（1）在英式英語中，一個數的最後兩位(十位和個位)得用"and''，但美式英語中則不用。如：

3,077（U.S）：three thousand，seventy-seven

（2）不定冠詞"a"隻在數的開頭才和hundred，thousand等連用。試比較：

146讀作：a hundred(and)forty-six

2,146讀作：two thousand，one hundred(and)forty-six

（3）1,000這個整數我們說a thousand，在and前我們也說a thousand，但是在一個有百位數的數目前就得說one thousand，試比較：

1,031讀作：a thousand，(and)thirty-one

1,150讀作：one thousand，one hundred(and)fifty

（4）hundred，thousand和million這幾個詞的單數可以和"a"或者"one"連用，但是不能單獨使用。

在非正式文體中"a"比較常見；當我們說話比較準确的時候就用"one"，試比較：

I want to live for a hundred years.

The journey took exactly one hundred days.

（4）我們常常說eleven hundred(1,100)，twelve hundred(1,200)等，而不說one thousand one hundred。

從1,100到1,900之間的整數，這種說法最常見。

155,721讀作：one hundred(and)fifly-five thousand seven hundred(and)twenty-one

6,155,702讀作：six million one hundred(and)fifty-five thousand seven hundred and two

4,302,000,000讀作：four billion three hundred(and)two million

由以上一組數字可以看出，多位數由右向左每3位有一逗号，這個逗号的作用非同小可，在記憶數字時，它可以幫我們很大的忙!

逆向第一個逗号讀thousand；

向左再推三位，第二個逗号讀million；

第三個逗号讀billion；

第四個逗号讀trillion。

這幾個逗号的作用在于，當我們聽到若幹thousand時，立即寫下這個數，并在其後打一個逗号，并留出3位；

當聽到若幹 million，則寫下數字，并在其後打一逗号，留出6位；

聽到若幹billion，方法同上，在後面留出9位，後面的million、thousand 依此法類推，讓所有數字各就其位。

例如，當你聽到"twenty thousand and four"寫出20，"and four"意為後一組僅有個位，即：004，那麼，這個數字完整地寫下來就是20，004；

若聽到"six million twenty thousand four hundred and twenty-three，"則第一步先寫：6,020，再将最後一組423寫在第一個逗号後面。

完整的數字為6,020,423。由此可見這個三位一逗号的作用有多大。

02、小數的讀法

小數點"."讀"point"，小數點前按基數詞的讀法來讀，小數點後的數若是兩位以上，則分别讀出。

0.5讀作：zero point five

0.25讀作：zerop point two five

0.125讀作：zero point one two five

93, 64m讀作：ninety-three point six four meters

2'15.11''讀作：two minutes fifteen point one one seconds

03、分數的讀法

1/2 可以讀為one half 或 one over two。1/2 的說法跟 1/3、1/4 都不一樣, 它不讀為 one second，而要用 one half。

而 one of two 常用在數學上, 強調 1 除以 2, 這種說法在日常生活中用得比較少。

至于1/3 是one third，1/4 是 one fourth...以此類推，大家對這種說法都已經很熟悉了，在此不多說，但要注意兩點：在日常生活中，用 one quarter 表示1/4比用 one fourth 更多一些；2/3 要說 two thirds, 也就是說分母那個 third 要加 s，不要忘記。

比較複雜的分數常常用over這個詞表示。如：

317/509讀作：three hundred and seventeen over five hundred and nine

3/4hour，說three quarters of an hour(三刻鐘)；7／10mile則說seven tenths of a

mile(十分之七英裡)。

04、序數詞的讀法

lst讀作：(the)first

2nd讀作：(the)second

3nd讀作：(the)third

4th讀作： (the)fourth

20th讀作：(the)twentieth

21st讀作：(the)twenty-first

22nd讀作： (the)twenty-second

23rd讀作：(the)twenty-third

其它以此類推。

05、鐘點的讀法

鐘點的讀法分英式和美式兩種，我們應對此加以注意。

英：

7：00讀作：seven o'clock a.m./p.m.

8：15讀作：a quarter past eight/eight fifteen

9：30讀作：half past nine/nine thirty

9：45讀作：a quarter to ten/nine forty-five

10：03讀作：three(minutes)past ten/ten oh three

美：

美用法基本相似，隻是英國用past之處，美國通常用after；英國用to之處，美國常用of，例如：

5：15讀作：a quarter after five/five fifteen

9：45讀作：a quarter of ten/nine forty-five

9：55讀作：five of ten/nine fifty-five
