suggest是常用動詞，也是考試中常考動詞，它的一種常見意思和語法現象需要我們掌握。suggest用作動詞可以指“提出；建議；暗示；使人聯想起”，比如：I suggest a new plan.我提出一個新計劃。This plan suggests itself.這個計劃就這樣浮現在心中了。

有一個常用句式需要記住：suggest sth. to sb.（向某人建議某事）。比如，I suggested a new procedure to the committee.我向委員會提出一項新的程序。

suggestion後面可以跟that引導的從句，但多為虛拟語氣，其結構是should 動詞原形，但在考題中，正确答案是省略should，直接用原形動詞。比如：He reacted testily to the suggestion that he (should) lose weight.有人建議他減肥，對此他很惱火。He agreed with my suggestion that we (should) change the date.他同意我提出的更改日期的建議。

suggestion 表示“暗示”，比如：He accused Mrs. Moore of making an indecent suggestion.他指控穆爾太太所做的下流性暗示。We reject any suggestion that the law needs amending.我們拒絕任何該法律需要修訂的暗示。
