小貓咪很頑皮，他去追小雞、抓鳥兒……但是媽媽總是對小貓咪說不可以，究竟為什麼呢？

"Come on, time for supper," called Barnaby's mom,

“過來吧，吃晚飯啦。”小貓Barnaby的媽媽叫他，

as she set off toward the house.

她準備向房子出發時。

"Don't chase the chickens, Barnaby!" she called.

“别去追小雞啊，Barnaby！”她叫到。

"WHY NOT?" Barnaby asked.

“為什麼不可以？”Barnaby問到。

"Because I'll chase YOU," crowed the rooster.

“因為我會反過來追着你跑！”公雞啼叫着。

"But I can climb out of your way,"cried Barnaby,as he started up the tree.

“但是我能爬到你夠不着的地方。”Barnaby邊叫，邊開始向樹上爬。

"Don't scare the birds, Barnaby!" called his mom.

"WHY NOT?"

“不要去吓鳥兒們，Barnaby！”媽媽說。

“為什麼不可以？”

"Because I'll scare YOU," cawed the crow.

“因為我會吓你一跳！”烏鴉叫着說。

"But I can leap out of your way," cried Barnaby,as he sprang down from the tree.

“但是我能跳到你夠不着的地方。”Barnaby一邊說，一邊從樹上彈跳下來。

"Don't annoy the sheep, Barnaby!" called his mom.

"WHY NOT?"

“不要去惹綿羊，Barnaby！”貓媽媽叫到。

“為什麼不可以？”

"Because I'll annoy YOU!" snorted the ram.

“因為我會反過來惹你！”公羊生氣地說。

"But I can jump out of you way," cried Barnaby,as he bounded over the fence.

“但是我能跳到你夠不着的地方！”Barnaby說着，一邊跳過了圍欄。

"Don't frighten the foal, Barnaby!" called his mom.

"WHY NOT?"

“别吓着小馬駒啦，Barnaby！”媽媽叫到。

“為什麼不可以？”

"Because I'll frighten YOU!" neighed the horse.

“因為我會反過來吓你！”馬媽媽嘶叫着說。

"But I can get out of your way," cried Barnaby,as he squeezed under the hay bales.

“但是我能逃走啊。”Barnaby說着，一邊擠進了幹草堆裡。

"Don't squeeze in there, Barnaby!" called his mom.

"WHY NOT?"

“不要擠進去，Barnaby！”媽媽叫到。

“為什麼不可以？”

"Because you will get stuck!" warned his mom.

“因為你會被卡住的！”貓媽媽警告到。

"BUT I AM STUCK!" cried Barnaby.

“但是我已經卡住了！”Barnaby叫到。

"We will help you," offered the rooster,the crow, the ram, and the horse eagerly.

“我們來幫你。”公雞，烏鴉，公羊和馬一同熱心地來幫助他。

"Don't" meowed Barnaby,as he struggled to get free.

“不要！”Barnaby一邊喵喵地說，一邊努力想要掙脫出來。

"WHY NOT?"they called,as they moved toward him.

“為什麼不可以？”他們一邊問，一邊朝他走近。

"Because…" cried Barnaby, as he struggled even harder.

“因為……”Barnaby說，他掙紮得更厲害啦。

"Because…I'm already…

“因為…我已經…

…OUT!"

…出來啦！”

And he ran up the garden path and back to his mom in time for supper.

于是他跑在了花園的路上，跟在媽媽的身後要去吃晚飯啦。
