形容詞Afraid的意思比較簡單，通常隻有“害怕”和“擔心”兩個意思，但搭配較多，現舉例說明。

Afraid作為形容詞的第一個常見意思是“害怕”。比如：I was afraid of the other boys.我害怕其他的男孩子們。He is afraid to see you again.他害怕再見到你。

Most animals are afraid of fire.大多數動物怕火。There's nothing to be afraid of.沒有什麼要害怕的。

1）be afraid to-infin.害怕：She is afraid to go through the wood but she has to. 她雖然害怕，可還是不得不穿過這樹林。

2）be afraid of 動詞ing形式：I am afraid of going through that wood, I'll take the road.我害怕穿過那座樹林，我将走大路。

3）be afraid that從句，意思是“恐怕”：I am afraid(that)it is true.恐怕這是真的。

2.be afraid that 将來時态，表示“恐怕”：I am afraid (that) the train will be late. 我恐怕火車會晚點。

3.be afraid of sb. or sth.害怕。：She is afraid of you 她害怕你。Are you afraid of death?你害怕死嗎?

fearful指充滿恐懼的心情，預料到危險、失敗或者麻煩。比如：She was fearful that she would fail.她生怕失敗。
