1、表示舉例，意為“例如，諸如此類的，像⋯⋯ 那樣的”，相當于like 或for example。如：

They planted many flowers, such as roses, sunflowers, etc. 他們種了許多種花，如玫

瑰花、向日葵等等。

2、表示“像⋯⋯ 這樣的”，其中的as 用作關系代詞，引導定語從句，此時不能把as用定語從句的關系代詞that或which來替換。如：

（1）He is not such a fool as he looks. 他并不像他看起來那麼傻。

（2）Such men as he (is) are rare now. 現在像他這樣的人很少了。

3、表示“凡是⋯⋯ 的人(或事物) ”、“所有⋯⋯ 的人(事物) ”，其意相當于everything that, all those, those that (who)等。其中的such 為先行詞， as 為關系代詞。如：

（1）Take such (things) as you need. 你需要什麼就拿什麼。

（2）You may choose such as you prefer. 你可挑選自己想要的東西。

4、用于such ⋯ as to do sth，用來表示結果， 其中的such 為限定語， as to do sth 表示結果。如：

It was such a loud noise as to wake everybody in the house. 聲音很大，屋裡的所有

人都被吵醒了。

5、such as to do sth用來表示程度。如：

（1）Her illness was not such as to cause anxiety. 她的病不是很重，不必擔心。

意思是說，她的病情還沒有到達讓人擔心的程度。

（2）The pain in her foot wasn't such as to stop her walking. 她腳疼，但還不至于不能行走。

意思是說，她的腳疼還沒有到達不讓她走路的程度。

6、such as it is 是習慣用語， 表示讓步， 意思是“盡管不怎麼好”、盡管不一定正确”、“盡管沒什麼價值或重要性”。如：

（1）The food, such as it is, is plentiful. 食物盡管如此，但量還是很多的。

（2）You may use my bike, such as it is.你可以用的的自行車，盡管它就這個樣子（盡管車不太好）。
