基數詞的英文表示方法或讀法分為三步:(1）先将數字從右往左每三位數用一個逗号隔開。例如：47,256,812,047 121,470,000 (2）“一逗千，二逗百萬，三逗就是十萬萬”。從右向左，第一個逗号表示“千”讀thousand, 第二個逗号表示“百萬”讀作million, 第三個逗号表示“十萬萬”即“十億”讀作billion 。(3）“左右三位分開讀”，讀數時從左到右，三位三位數的讀，每三位數的讀法按百位數的讀法，遇到逗号時就加上該逗号處所表示的那個英語單詞。這樣能保你讀的又快又準。

例如：1,000→a /one thousand ； 3,596→three thousand, five hundred and ninety -six ； 10,000→ten thousand ； 15,261→fifteen thousand, two hundred and sixty -one ； 100,000→a /one hundred thousand ； 742,132→seven hundred and forty -two thousand, one hundred and thirty -two ； 1,000,000→a /one million ； 3,538,536→three million five hundred and thirty -eight thousand, five hundred and thirty -six ； 10,000,000→ten million ； 100,000,000→a /one hundred million ； 下面的數，英美表達不一緻。例如：1,000,000,000→a /one thousand million (英)； a /one billion (美)； 10,000,000,000→ten thousand million (英)； ten billion 。
