一、用英語表示生日的常用方法
有時簡單地從漢語字面意思來看，看不出是用基數詞還是序數詞，此時不要想當然地亂用。如：
今天是我爺爺的60大壽。
誤：Today is my grandfather’s sixty birthday.
正：Today is my grandfather’s sixtieth birthday.
漢語說“三十歲生日”“六十大壽”等，其實指的是過第30個生日，過第60個生日等，所以要用序數詞而不用基數詞。
二、用英語表示年齡的常用方法
(1) 一般直接用基數詞表示，如：
Her daughter is eighteen. 她的女兒18歲。
(2) 用“基數詞 years old”表示，有時可将years old 換成years of age。如：
Her daughter is eighteen years old. / Her daughter is eighteen years of age. 她的女兒18歲。
(3) 用“基數詞-year-old”表示，此結構常做(前置)定語。如：
Her 18-year-old daughter is now in the university. 他18歲的女兒現在上大學。
(4) 用“at the age of 基數詞”表示“在“在……年齡”。如：
Her daughter got married at the age of eighteen. 她的女兒18歲就結了婚。
(5) 用“of 基數詞”表示，此結構常做後置定語。如：
Her daughter is now a pretty girl of 18. 她女兒現在一個18歲的美少女了。
(6) 用“aged 基數詞”表示，此結構常做後置定語。如：
Lying on the floor was a boy aged about seventeen. 躺在地闆上的是一個約莫十七歲的男孩。
(7) 用“be in one’s 幾十的複數形式”表示某人大概的年齡。如：
He went to the United States in his fifties. 他五十多歲時去了美國。
