我們經常能從各類時尚報道中看到“藍血品牌、紅血品牌”這種說法，更有“六大藍血、八大紅血”之稱。
這裡出現的藍血對應英文blue blood，但并不表示“藍色的血液”，而是“尊貴，高貴”的意思。
blue blood作為短語，常用來表示“社會地位高”，而在英美語境中，也常用作名詞，表示“貴族血統，貴族（descent from nobility；a person of such descent; aristocrat）”；形容詞形式則是blue-blooded，這個表達源于西班牙語中的sangre azul。
那麼為什麼外國人會用它來表示「尊貴」呢？
這其中存在着文化淵源：
藍血人屬于上等階級，因為很少在戶外活動的人血管會透過白皙的皮膚呈現出藍色，過去這種人通常是上等階級。
A blue-blooded person, or a blue blood, belongs to the upper class. This is because veins appear blue through the pale skin of people who do not spend much time in the open air. In the past, these people were from the upper class.
