看看英語解釋：If you are unable to live down a mistake or failure, you are unable to make people forget about it，就是說如果你不能live down一個錯誤或失敗，那麼你就不能讓人們忘記這個事。

所以，live down的含義更傾向于forget，表示使人們忘記（錯誤、失敗、罪行或尴尬的事情等等），通常用于否定句中（含not或never）。

英語中，我們可以講live on，表示繼續活着，也就是活下去。

If you live on, you continue to be alive for a long time after a particular point in time or after a particular event，如果你live on，意味着你在某一個特定的時間點或特定的一件事之後，還能繼續活很長一段時間。

最後學習一個和live有關的詞組，叫live it up，相當樂呵的一個詞組。

看看英語解釋：To enjoy yourself in an exciting way, usually spending a lot of money，也就是用一種令人興奮的方式享樂，通常要花掉很多錢。

因此，live it up是指盡情狂歡享樂或盡情揮霍享樂（常有奢侈浪費的涵義）。
