decide, resolve, determine, settle四個詞都是含有‘決定’的意思的，但是決定與決定之間也是有區别的，而你在使用的時候都使用對了嗎？

一、decide

decide是對某一個引起懷疑、動搖、辯論或者是争執的問題，經過考慮或者是磋商，然後砸從幾種可能裡面做出比較合理的選擇或判斷。因此decide所表達的決定會含有消除疑惑、猶豫或争 執的意味在裡面。

例如：

He has decided not to go with you.

What decided you to give up the trip?

After some discussion it was decided that the problem be referred to higher authorities.

二、determine

determine作為動詞本身是沒有決定的意思，它的本意為判決，判定，确定。而決定這個意思是引申出來的，其所表達出來的決定意思為：确定界限或範圍，也就是對問題或事情的具體細節進 一步的加以确定，使它們的性質、特點、範疇以及方向明确無疑。它還可以表示下決心，在表示下決心這個含義的時候，可以用過去分詞determined作形容詞,說明一種狀态,即任何東西都不能動 搖和改變這一确定的決心。

例如：

The club decided on a lecture series and appointed a committee to determine the speakers and the dates.

The news determined him against further delay.

We are determined to get the task finished before the end of the month.

三、settle

settle也是有表達決定的意思，且語氣上比decide要強得多。它表示在消除所有的疑慮、遲疑和争執之後,從思想上作出最後的符合邏輯的選擇，但有時也指任何個人都不負責任的結局。

例如：

Your appointment is as good as settled

The Supreme Court of the United States has power to settle all questions of law.

The committee finally settled on a day for the fair.

四、resolve

resolve意指打定主意做某事或不做某事。在表示決心時,同determine的一部分含義很相似,但是在表示決心、理由和目的方面,語義更強。它還可指某一團體經過辯論或讨論後,對某個問題作 出決議。

例如：

She was resolved to become a ballet dancer.

The boy resolved to get up earlier in the mornings.

The clerical staff resolved to lodge a protest against the new award.

提醒：在determine to do..., determine on (upon)...和determine...，(賓詞從句)這三個搭配中，determine的詞義和decide幾乎沒有多大差異。
