在意思上容易混淆的詞組“shade”和“Shadow”的不同以及用法~
Shade /ʃeɪd/
n. 陰涼處；背陰；（樹）蔭
It refers to an area or a part of a place that is protected from the heat of the sun and so is darker and cooler.
它指的是沒有陽光照射的，較暗、較涼爽的地方。（在表示這個意思時，shade是不可數的）
She likes sitting in the shade to stare things blankly.
她喜歡坐在陰涼處發呆。
It’s so hot outside, and there’s even no shade.
外面好熱，甚至都沒有一點陰涼處。
Shadow /ˈʃædəʊ/
n. 陰影；影子
It refers to the dark shape made when a light shines on a person or an object, or an area of darkness in which it is difficult to distinguish things easily.
它指的是光線照射在人身上或物體之上（也就是影子，表示這個意思時，是可數的）；或是指讓人難以辨别事物的光線暗的區域（也就是陰影，這時是不可數名詞）。
The tree cast a shadow on the water.
樹在水面上投下了影子。
That man is standing in shadow, so I can’t tell who he is.
那個人站在暗處，我認不出他是誰。
最後總結一下，
“shade”常表示
“陽光照不到的陰涼處”，
在這時是不可數名詞；
而“shadow”則有兩個常用意思，
在表示“影子”時，
是可數的，
在表示“陰影”之意時，
是不可數名詞。
