其實英語單詞跟漢語一樣是有偏旁部首的，隻要記住它們，遇到不會的單詞就可以猜，所以要記的東西就大大減少了。這些偏旁部首就是詞根詞綴，因為英語融合了各種語言，比如希臘語、拉丁語、法語、德語，所以詞根也來自不同的語言，根據詞根在源語言中的意思來解釋英語單詞意思的方法叫詞源學。按照詞源學記單詞又快又有意思。

拉丁語dens意思為“牙齒”， 在英語中演化為詞根dent，意思為“牙齒”。

1. dentist，[ˈdentɪst]，n. 牙科醫生。

2. dental，[ˈdentl]，adj. 牙科的；牙齒的。

Dental care was free in the 60s. 牙科保健在60年代是免費的。

dental disease/problems/decay 牙齒疾病/問題/腐爛

3. denture，[ˈdentʃə(r)]，n. 假牙。

4. dentifrice，['dentɪfrɪs]，n. 牙膏；牙粉。
