在中文中，無論是純鐵制品、不鏽鋼制品，還是其他金屬制品，人們多習慣于用“鐵”這個字，即使有時并不正确，但英文并不是這樣。
對于我們說的鐵筷子，也就是不鏽鋼筷子，英文通常用metal-金屬這個詞，以與木質筷子做區分。
(1) Metal 金屬的
Do you want to use the wooden chopsticks or metal chopsticks for dinner?
你是想用木筷子還是鐵筷子吃晚飯？
也可以用steel chopsticks，但人們第一反應是用metal。
I like the reusable metal water bottle instead of the plastic one.
我喜歡可以多次使用的金屬水瓶，而不是塑料的。
英文中，真正的鐵制品才用iron-鐵這個詞。
(2) Iron 鐵的
Use the cast iron skillet to fry chicken.
用這個鐵鍋煎雞肉吧。
Daddy's hammer is made of iron.
爸爸的錘子是鐵做的。
鋼是一種合金，通常表面有光澤。
(3) Steel 鋼的
We will use the stainless-steel pan to cook those eggs.
我們一會兒用這個不鏽鋼煎鍋煎這些雞蛋。
We'll pass by the steel mill when we drive into the city.
我們開到市裡以後會路過一個鋼廠。
