（1）agreement n. ...之間的“協定”、“協議”或“協定書”。例如：

a collective agreement 集體協議

a commercial agreement 貿易協定

a socialist emulation agreement 社會主義競賽協議

to come to an agreement 達成協議

（2）contract n. 具體的、事物性的“合同”。如在簽定貿易協定後，關于交貨數量、交貨日期、運輸情況等等所訂的合同。例如：

a contract for （the）supply of goods 交貨合同

（3）pact n. 國家間簽定的政治性“條約”或“公約”。例如：

a mutual assistance pact 互助條約

a nonaggression pact 互不侵犯條約

（4）treaty n. 國家間的政治性“盟約”或“條約”。例如：

a multilateral treaty 多邊條約

a peace treaty 合約

a treaty defining boundary between two countries 兩國間的邊界條約

a treaty of alliance 聯盟條約

20、alive，living，live與lively的用法辨析

（1）alive adj. “活着的”，“精神抖擻的”。這個詞不能在名詞和代詞的前面，隻能用作表語。例如：

His parents are still alive .他的父母依然健在。

（2）living adj. “活着的”，“有生命的”，“現存的”。這個詞用作定語和表語均可。例如：

a living language 活的語言

He is still living .他還活着。

Living men can err .活人都會有錯誤。

（3）live adj. “活的”，“沒有死的”。這個詞隻作定語用，往往用來形容動詞。例如：

live animals 活的動物 live fish 活魚

a live wire 活線

It seemed that all were dead ;however ;there were three live men on the boar .好像所有的人都死了，然而，在船上還有三個活着的人。

（4）lively adj. “活潑的”，“愉快的”，“精神旺盛的”。例如：

lively members 精神旺盛的成員

lively conversations 熱烈愉快的談話

21、allow ， allow of 與 allow for 的用法辨析

（1）allow v.t. “聽任”，“許可”。例如：

His father did not allow him to swim at noon .

他父親不許他在中午遊泳。

Allow me to congratulate you on your

success .請允許我對你的成就表示祝賀。

（2）allow（v.t.）of “容許”，“有……餘地”。例如：

This rule allows of different explanations .這條規則容許有不同的解釋。

The matter allows of no delay .這件事沒有拖延的餘地。

（3）allow （v.t.）for “注意到”，“考慮到”。例如：

You must allow for his health .你必須考慮到他的健康問題。

The nurses allowed for those patients who were trying to walk .

護士們注意到那些試圖散步的病人了。
