我們在學校課堂上學習各個國家名字的時候，通常是與這些國家的人相聯系的，比如："Where are you from?", "I am from Britain." 因此當我們在記憶各個國家的英語名稱時，除非我們對這些國家的人或事情有興趣或聯系，我們會很快忘記那些與我們生活無關的國家的名字。其次，我們的記憶會受到中文翻譯的誤導，比如，我們常把英國說成“England” 而少有人能直接說“Britain”。

實際上，國家的名字，首先是地理概念，因此記住國家名字的最好方法是将國家作為地理概念來記住。而我們多數人在中學的世界地理課上都對世界各國的名字和地理位置或多或少有印象，隻是沒能将其與英語名稱匹配起來，浪費了我們的知識。

建議：買一張英語的全球地圖或是地球儀擺在家裡。有空的時候或是聽到讀到相關國家的新聞時，就可以查看并念一下這個國家的名字。你甚至可以不時聽一下本課的音頻并同時尋找相關的國家。用不了多久，你就會自然記住世界上多數國家的名字。你甚至會發現，這個地圖上有那麼多的國家值得了解，值得去旅遊，它們和中國一樣承載着太多的人類曆史。
