一天當中的主要時間是：morning；afternoon；evening ；night。

(1)用in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening和in the night來談論事情發生的時間。

• She woke up in the morning feeling ill.她早上起來感到不舒服。
• It rained in the night.夜晚天下起了雨。

(2)也可以用 in the morning (s), in the afternoon (s）和 in the evening (s)來表達在這些時間裡定期頻繁發生的事物。

• You could sit there in the evening and listen to the radio.
• 你可以每天晚上坐在那兒聽廣播。
• Most of us play golf in the afternoons.
• 我們大多數人都在下午打高爾夫球。

(3)當表達在晚上定期發生的事情時，不使用 in the night 或 in the nights，而說 at night。

• We lock the doors at night. 晚上我們把門鎖上。

(4)當 morning, afternoon, evening 和 night 前有具體的星期幾時，應使用介詞 on。

• Mum arrived at my house on Friday evening. 媽媽在星期五晚上到達我的住所。
• We go swimming on Saturday mornings.星期六早上我們經常去遊泳。

（1）在 morning, afternoon 和 evening 前加 this 表示當天的時間。

• The report will be on your desk this afternoon.
• 今天下午，報告将放在你的桌子上。

(2)我們用 tonight 和 today 來分别表示今晚和今天，而不用的 this night 和 this today。

• I'I be late for dinner tonight.今天晚飯我可能會遲到。
• I had lunch with Delia today.今天我和迪莉娅一起吃了午餐。

(1) 将 yesterday 放在 morning, afternoon 和 evening 之前，表示昨天的時間

• He went to work yesterday morning as usual.
• 昨天早上他照常去上班

(2)用 last night 來表達昨天晚上，而不說 yesterday night.

• Where were you last night?你昨天晚上在哪兒？

将 tomorrow 放在 morning, afternoon, evening 和 night 之前，表示接下來一天的時間。

• Would you like to come for dinner tomorrow night?
• 明天晚上你願意過來晚飯嗎？
