每個人的生肖都代表一種祥瑞之獸。這是我們來到這個世界後，民族文化給我們帶來的第一份禮物。

有的人屬虎，虎虎生威；有人屬龍，龍馬精神；也有人屬狗，瑞犬納福。

那“我屬狗”英語怎麼說呢？直接說 I'm a Dog 也沒錯~

Dog 可以表示“狗年出生的人”，所以 I'm a Dog 可能聽起來有點奇怪，但它的意思不是“我是狗”，而是“我屬狗”。

要注意的是，英語中，表示生肖時，動物首字母要大寫。

I was born in the year of the Dog.

我屬狗、我是狗年出生的

如果實在擔心跟外國人說 I'm a Dog 會引起尴尬，那可以這樣說：I was born in the year of the Dog。

the year of the Dog 是“狗年”的意思，這裡有兩個 the，都不能省略哦。另外，year 的首字母可以大寫，也可以不大寫。

I was born in 1970, the year of the Dog.

我是 1970 年出生的，屬狗。

在講怎麼用英語對别人的生肖提問前，我們先來看看“生肖”用英語怎麼說~

zodiac sign

生肖、屬相、星座

zodiac 讀作/'zəʊdɪæk/，是星座的統稱，而具體到某個星座，就要說 zodiac sign。那這跟生肖有什麼關系呢？

西方沒有十二生肖，隻有十二星座，所以“生肖”的英語就借用了 zodiac 這個單詞，用 Chinese zodiac 表示。

但是 Chinese zodiac 是生肖的統稱，要具體指某個生肖時，也要說 zodiac sign。

zodiac sign 既能表示星座，也能表示生肖，到底是哪種意思，要看語境講的是西方還是中國，還是很好分辨的~

There is no cat in the Chinese zodiac.

十二生肖裡沒有貓。

What's your Chinese zodiac sign?

你屬什麼？

要問别人屬什麼，上面兩個句子都可以。為什麼兩個句子裡都加了 Chinese 呢？這是因為不加 Chinese，又沒有語境，這兩個句子問的就是星座了。

“本命年”又怎麼說?

和生肖一起常說的，還有“本命年”，它的英語比較常用的是 zodiac year，也就是與生肖相符的年份。

1. The year of the Ox is my zodiac year.

牛年是我的本命年。

2. The next year is my zodiac year.

明年是我的本命年。

對本命年提問，可以用 when，也可以用 which year 來問具體的年份~

-When is your zodiac year?
