隻是在準确地表達數字概念時，可能 one 更常用。如：

The journey took exactly one hundred days. 這次旅行正好用了100天。

2. 在讀數時，若是在一個數的開頭，用a或one都行；若不是在數的開頭，則隻能用one，如“1165”的正确讀法是a [one] thousand, one hundred and sixty-five，不能是a [one] thousand, a hundred and sixty-five。

3. 與具體數字連用時，不帶複數詞尾-s。但若表示泛指數，則要帶複數詞尾-s，且通常要有of短語。如：

There are hundreds (of people) who need new housing. 有許許多多人需要新的住房。

4. 與a few, several, many等數目不很具體的詞連用時，用不用複數形式均可。但是注意：用單數形式，其後的介詞of可以省略；用複數形式，其後的介詞of不能省略，如将“幾百大學生”說成英語可以是several hundred (of) college students或several hundreds of college students。
